A Link To The Past: A Follow Up on The Legend of Zelda, One Year Later

I’ve been in a bit of a lull with the whole Lucha Underground rewatch. Part of that is because I’ve just been a little wrestling-ed out, part is that I’m not super motivated to do much of anything once I sit in my office, and part of it is that I’ve got a few other projects I’m working on. HOWEVER, since it’s been a year since one of the most miraculous things I’ve ever seen, I wanted to bang out a quick update.

On July 4th, 2024, we got our dog back. After a month of her living in the wilds of Colorado, somewhere between Chatfield Reservoir where she went missing and Ken Caryl Ranch where she was found, a decent person recognized her from the many, many posters we’d put up. With some incredible timing -- Mo was on her way home and had just gotten on the expressway that goes West to that neighborhood -- things worked out and she was reunited with our little goofball.

It took a while but she’s basically back to normal now. She’s getting eye drops because of an issue that may or may not be related to that adventure. She’s got a coat that’s less soft and flat and more wild and frizzy, so we’ll probably end up getting her groomed again soon. But beyond that, she’s back to being aggressively cuddy, obnoxiously loud around strangers, and generally a good, weird dog. Oh, she also hunts grasshoppers and mice in our backyard now, and has a more voracious appetite.

All in all, though, things worked out. She has a new brother, Eddie, and they get along about as well as you might expect a little boy pug and a ten plus year old terrier mix would. They play, they bite, they bark, and they have fun. Ditka is also still around, and plays for a little bit with everybody, although there’s a degree of old guy respect the others give him as he’s starting to slow down at 13.

I don’t know what we would have done if we never found her. I can’t imagine giving up, but I know that a lot of people have to. I mean, how do you know how long to have hope if you’ve got nothing but that driving you? We were fortunate that sightings came right on the edge of our … I don’t want to say patience, but our faith? In the end, the help of a ton of people who saw a couple that just didn’t want to give up on their dog saw us through. So, to all of you mentioned in that piece I wrote last year, and to anyone who saw a post or a poster and just thought about us and Zelda, thank you. Our little family gets to be together a while longer because of you. In short…thank you, we love you, and hey, hey, hey...you alright.
